Terms of service
The agreement between Quantable LLC and each Telltale Bot customer, accepted in the viewer when an account starts. It includes our Data Processing Addendum and Acceptable Use Policy.
Version beta-2, November 2, 2026.
1. The agreement
These terms are an agreement between Quantable LLC ("we"), which makes Telltale Bot, and the customer whose account accepts them ("you"). They cover your use of Telltale Bot on the sites in your account, including any you add later. Two documents are part of them: our Data Processing Addendum (telltale.bot/dpa.html, version beta-1) and our Acceptable Use Policy (telltale.bot/acceptable-use.html, version beta-1).
2. The service
- What it does. Telltale Bot judges whether each visit to your sites is a person, an AI agent acting for a person, or a bot, and reports it in the viewer, in exports and to your pages. It detects and reports; it does not block anyone. If our servers are down, your pages still load.
- A beta. Telltale Bot is in beta. Verdicts are probabilities, and some will be wrong. We may change features, detection rules and reports, and we will post changes that affect your tags, exports or
dataLayeron our changelog. We aim to keep it running, and post problems on our status page, but we do not promise a level of availability.
3. Plans and payment
- Your plan is a number of pageviews a month across all your sites, billed monthly or yearly at the price on our pricing page when you choose it. Prices are in US dollars, before sales tax or VAT, which we add where the law requires.
- Trial. A new account's first subscription starts with a free trial (14 days unless we say otherwise when you sign up). We don't take a card for it. If you add one during the trial, we charge it when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. If you don't, the trial ends without a charge, and we stop answering your reports until you choose a plan.
- Renewal. Your plan renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and is charged in advance to the card on file, until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Changing and cancelling. You can move up a plan at any time and pay the difference for the rest of the period; a move down starts with your next period. You can cancel at any time in the viewer: the plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew. Closing your account cancels at once.
- Refunds follow the refund policy on our pricing page (telltale.bot/pricing.html#refunds) as it stands when you pay. It includes a full refund on request within 30 days of your first payment.
- Going over your plan. We email you at 80% and 100% of your plan in a month. From one and a half times your plan we stop storing your reports for the rest of that month, and from twice your plan we stop answering them, until you move up a plan or the month ends. We do not charge for going over. If you go over two months running, we may ask you to move up a plan.
- Price changes. We will email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you. It starts with your next billing period after that, and you can cancel before then.
- Unpaid accounts. If a payment fails, Stripe retries it for a few weeks. If it is still unpaid, your subscription ends and we stop storing and answering your reports.
- Accounts we don't bill. If we have told you your account is free (as for customers of our alpha), it stays free until we email you at least 30 days before that changes. You can then choose a plan or stop.
4. Your part
- Follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: use Telltale Bot only on sites you are authorized to run tags on, don't base a significant decision about a person on a verdict alone, and don't try to work out how verdicts are reached or help anyone evade detection.
- Keep your account details accurate, keep viewer logins to the people in your organization who need them, and tell us if you think one has been misused. You are responsible for what happens under your logins.
5. Confidentiality
Each of us keeps the other's non-public information confidential and uses it only for this agreement: for us, your data and business information; for you, how Telltale Bot works and anything in the viewer that is not public. This does not cover information that is public, already known to the receiver, or that the law requires it to disclose (with notice to the other where the law allows).
6. Your visitors' data
You are the controller of your visitors' personal data, and we process it for you as your processor under the Data Processing Addendum. It says what the data is, how we protect it, who our subprocessors are, and how data subject to EU or UK law is transferred to the United States (the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum). We delete reports after 30 days, and all of your sites' reports when you close your account or within 30 days after this agreement ends; our encrypted backups roll off 14 days later.
7. Improving detection
We may use your reports and your Wrong verdict? markings, together with other customers', to test and improve detection. We may keep labeled reports for up to 12 months, and keep a few as test cases after removing the IP address, host name and page address. For this use we are a controller, not only your processor. We never sell your data, show it to another customer, use it for advertising or to follow people across sites, or name you publicly without your permission; we may publish findings that identify no one. You can opt out at any time by emailing support@telltale.bot. When you opt out or this agreement ends, we delete your labeled reports within 30 days, apart from those test cases.
8. Ending or suspending it
- You can end this agreement at any time by closing your account in the viewer (Settings) or by emailing us. Remove the tag from your sites when it ends.
- We can end it with 30 days' notice by email, and then refund what you have paid for time after it ends. We can suspend your account or end this agreement at once if you breach the Acceptable Use Policy or these terms in a serious way, if your account is unpaid, or if we must to protect the service, other customers or the law; we will tell you why unless the law does not allow it.
- Section 6 continues until your data is deleted, and sections 5, 7, 9, 10 and 12 continue after this agreement ends.
9. No warranties
Telltale Bot is provided as is and as available, during its beta. As far as the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including that it is error-free, uninterrupted, fit for a particular purpose, or that any verdict is right.
10. Liability
Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or revenue, or for decisions made on a verdict. Otherwise each party's total liability under this agreement is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$1,000; for a breach of section 5 or 6 or of the Data Processing Addendum, to the greater of three times that amount and US$10,000. These limits do not apply to your payment of fees, or where the law does not allow a limit.
11. Changes to these terms
We will publish any new version on telltale.bot and email you at least 30 days before it applies to you, unless a change is needed sooner by law or to keep the service secure; the viewer may ask you to accept it. If you don't accept a change, you can end this agreement before it applies, and we refund what you have paid for time after that, as our refund policy says.
12. General
- Notices go by email: to us at support@telltale.bot, to you at the email address of the login that accepted these terms (or one you give us later).
- Law. Ohio law governs, and the courts of Ohio decide disputes, except where the data protection law that applies to you requires otherwise.
- Events beyond control. Neither of us is responsible for a failure caused by something outside its reasonable control, other than paying.
- Assignment. Either of us may transfer this agreement to a successor to its business; otherwise only with the other's agreement.
- The rest. This is the whole agreement about Telltale Bot and replaces any earlier one. If a part of it cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. It may be accepted in the viewer, by signature or by email, and whoever accepts confirms they may bind you.
