Telltale Bot tells website owners who is behind each visit: a person, an AI assistant browsing for a person, or unattended automation.
Human
A person using their own browser.
Agentic
An AI assistant acting for a specific person, such as Claude or ChatGPT agent. Named when we can tell which one.
Bot
Crawlers, scrapers, headless browsers and other automation running on its own.
How it works
- The site adds one tag in Google Tag Manager. It loads a small script that reads how the browser is set up and how it is being used, then reports that to our server twice per page.
- Our server adds what the network shows (the TLS handshake, headers, the IP address's network type) and judges the whole visit, not one page.
- The verdict goes back to the page's
dataLayer, where the site's analytics and ad tags can use it, and into a report for the site owner. - The script never records what anyone types, sets no cookies, and keeps nothing on the device after the tab closes. What we collect.

Our hosts
The script is served from js.ttbcdn.net and reports go to in.ttbcdn.net. Both belong to Telltale Bot. The viewer for site owners is app.telltale.bot.
